Bishop Kieran Commissions Shannon Parish Mission Volunteers

dsc_0890On Wednesday 1st May, Bishop Kieran O’Reilly SMA, Bishop of Killaloe ,commissioned 72 parishioners to go out and invite people to the Parish Mission which formally begins on the feast of Pentecost 19th May.  At a ceremony in Mary Immaculate Church Bishop Kieran personally commissioned parishioners with the Gospel of Luke to bring to each house they visit as a gift from the parish.
Between 2nd and 17th May the volunteers will visit all 3,500 homes in the parish with an invitation to the Mission and a copy of the Gospel of St Luke. On Wednesday the feast of St Joseph the Worker,  Bishop Kieran himself joined with Jimmy Morris Chairman and Fionnuala Riordan Secretary of the Pastoral Council in visiting homes in the Drumgeely area of Shannon.
The Book of Luke, The Gospel of Luke has kindly been made available to the parish by the Churches of Derry City who produced the book as their contribution to the City of Culture which Derry enjoys this year. We are grateful for such co operation in sharing the Good News.
Our thanks to Joe Buckley for the photos.
