Bishop Fintan Monahan led the parish in the Golden Jubilee Mass of St. Senan’s Parish Shannon on Saturday 24th June when he was chief Celebrant of a concelebrated Mass on the pitch of Wolfe Tones na Sionna GAA Club. Joe Kelly, Chairperson of the Pastoral Council, welcomed Bishop Fintan and the concelebrating priests, all of whom served in the parish. Frs J Minogue, Peter O’Loughlin, Seanie Murphy, Pat Mulcahy, Tom O’Gorman and Shannon native Fr Fergal O’Neill, joined Canon Brendan and Frs. Tom & Arnold in celebrating the Mass. The Mayor of Clare, Cllr Tom McNamara and his wife Mary were also present. This was the Mayor’s first engagement since his election the previous day. It was also significant as Mayor McNamara’s brother the late Fr Michael McNamara who served the parish for over half of its existence.

The combined Choirs of the parish under the leadership of Mary Lahiff led the singing with Annette Ahlsved and Folk Group members providing the music. After Mass Bishop Fintan mingled with parishioners and the catering committee provided hospitality in the hall.

Our thanks to Wolfe Tones na Sionna for use of their facilities and to Joe Kelly and Fionnuala Riordan who organised teams of parishioners to assist on the evening.

Thanks to Sheamus O’Donoghue, Ian Gallagher, Bishop Fintan & Fr. Tom for the photos.
