Appeal for new Eucharistic Adorers

For the past 15 years, Parishioners have committed themselves to pray for one hour a week in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. We appeal for more people to give an hour to prayer each week. The many hundreds who do so already find the experience of solitude and rest a blessing.

Blessing of Babies 8th January 2011

On Sunday 8^th January 2012, the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord, all babies who were baptised in the parish in 2011 were invited back for a Blessing for their first year of life. The ceremony took place in SS. John & Paul Church and buiochas to the Folk group who provided the music for this lovely occasion.

Mass of All Nations 2011

On Sunday 8th January, the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord, we celebrated the Mass of All Nations. At this Mass parishioners who are natives of different countries and who have made Shannon their come come together to celebrate this Mass in SS. John & Paul Church.

The Mass is an acknowledgement of the universality of our Parish and a sharing in all our different traditions.

Christmas 2011

Our Christmas 2011 celebrations began on 14th December with the Annual Tradaree Cluster Christmas Carol Service which took place in Newmarket-on-Fergus Church on Wednesday 14th December. The parish choirs of the Tradaree Cluster; Newmarket-on-Fergus, Sixmilebridge and Shannon, along with the school choirs of St. Conaire’s and St. Tola’s participated and Scoil Maighdine Mhuire, Newmarket-on-Fergus led the reflections.
Then Santa dropped in on 18th December to visit the children of Shannon and to receive a blessing for a safe journey on Christmas Eve! On 20th December the annual St. Senan’s Christmas Carol Service took place in Mary Immaculate Church. The next few days saw preparations being made in both Churches for a very special arrival.
The Children’s Christmas Mass in Mary Immaculate Church took place at 6.30pm on Christmas Eve with the Shannon Gospel Choir and the Children’s Mass in SS John & Paul Church was celebrated at 10am on Christmas Day with the Folk Choir providing the music.
