Confirmation and First Communion 2020

With the announcement that public Masses are permitted from June 29, and mindful that Confirmation and First Communion Ceremonies for our families have not yet been celebrated, the parish jointly with our school’s have agreed the following with regard to the celebration of Confirmation and First Communion Ceremonies.

Confirmation Dates 2020

Wednesday July 29 for St Aidan’s School at 4pm in SS John and Paul Church

Thursday July 30 for St Tola’s School at 11am and for St Senan’s and St John’s Schools at 3pm in Mary Immaculate Church

Friday July 31 for Conaire’s School at 11am and 3pm in SS John and Paul Church.

Next week we will begin the preparations with our schools for Confirmation.
Students for Confirmation are exempt from wearing their School Uniform and are permitted to wear smart casual clothing.  Tracksuits etc are not permitted.

First Communion Dates

In consultation with our schools the First Communion Ceremonies will NOT be celebrated during the Summer, but will be celebrated when schools return in September. When the pupils return we will organise the individual school ceremonies as speedily as possible with safety and social spacing a priority. Having taken a number of factors into consideration, we felt this was the best option. The dates will be confirmed when schools return.

Conclusion

These are very strange times indeed with safety a priority, but we in the parish jointly with the schools were very keen the sacraments would be celebrated, and they will be.

I hope this message clarifies any questions, queries, and concerns you may have. Also please note that all candidates are registered. I thank everyone for your patience and understanding during these challenging times, and especially to our School Principal’s for their suggestions and advice.

Let’s continue to stay safe and look out for one another.

May God bless you and your family.
