Since last Easter Sunday we have been celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. The gospel stories invite us to reflect on the life the Risen Christ brings, but it also documents the challenges and opportunities which visited the Early Christian community as recorded in the Acts of the Apostles. The central aspect of the community was they gathered for prayers and to break the bread. They supported those in need and nobody was left out. We do the same when we gather for the celebration of Mass, we pray, we break the bread and we try to ensure we support those in need.
We are blessed with so many who give generously to our parish community, sometimes at great cost and sacrifice. We are blessed with a rich array of talent which is shared with others. The challenges of our parish community are no different from the community of 2,000 years ago, but we should never forget that God walks with us no matter what. May God’s spirit guide us that this opportune time when all the baptised are called to share in the ministry of Jesus Christ.
God bless you this Easter week!
